Liverpool set for two lucrative pre-season games including money-spinning Man Utd clash

Liverpool are in talks over a lucrative pre-season trip to the Far East - with a money-spinning clash with bitter rivals Manchester United lined up.

Although Jurgen Klopp's side are still in the mix to claim their second title in three years with a third of the season remaining, the Reds hierarchy are beginning to draw up tentative plans for the summer.

And with life beginning to revert back to normality after the Covid pandemic, Liverpool are preparing to make their first summer trip to Asia since 2017.

According to The Athletic, Liverpool are currently locked in talks over a lucrative two-match trip to Bangkok and Singapore.

The trip would see them lock horns with United in Thailand on July 12 before jetting off to face Crystal Palace in Singapore three days later.

The report goes on to outline that the Reds will still look to arrange a European training camp in France or Austria to complete their preparations for the 2022/23 campaign.

Although nothing official has been signed, negotiations are said to be at an advanced stage and an official announcement could come as soon as March.

Palace and United are also planning to clash themselves at a later date in Australia.

The Reds have a huge following in Asia, but the pandemic has prevented Liverpool and a host of top European clubs from embarking on lucrative oversea tours.

Liverpool last visited Asia back in 2017 when they participated in the Hong Kong Cup alongside Palace and Leicester.

In recent years, Klopp's side have instead opted for lucrative pre-season trips to America, but that trend is set to be bucked this year in favour of a return to the Far East.
