Liverpool old boy Conor Coady makes 'nice feeling' comment after scoring at Everton for Wolves

Conor Coady claims scoring against Everton only "means more" to him because he plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Wolves captain, who came through the academy ranks at Liverpool, insists it was a "nice feeling" to net his third goal of the Premier League season, but refused to suggest that because it came against his boyhood club's rivals, it meant more.

His second half goal was all that separated the two sides at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon as Frank Lampard's men were plunged deeper into relegation trouble.

The victory for Wolves keeps their hopes of qualifying for European football alive having now won back-to-back league games for the second time in the space of a month.

When asked if the goal was even sweeter as it was against Everton, Coady said: “Not necessarily, no. It means more because I play for this football club.

“It was about winning for this football club, which is all it has ever been about.

“I love playing here and I love being a part of this club. To win with this club is an incredible feeling.

“That was what it was about and it’s a fantastic day.

“We work a lot on set pieces and second phases. We do an awful lot of work on it with Tony our goalkeeping coach. He’s fantastic at what he does.

“To score, for me, is a nice feeling. It’s a good day.”
