Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp claims that 'nobody can compete' with Man City

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has claimed that "nobody can compete" with Manchester City ahead of their Premier League clash this weekend.

Pep Guardiola's side travel to Anfield on Sunday, as City look to maintain their fine start to the season. The Blues are the only team in the league yet to lose a game, sitting just one point behind leaders Arsenal.

Before City got their title defence underway, many predicted that Liverpool would once again challenge the Blues every step of the way. Klopp's side have instead suffered a disastrous start to the season, as they find themselves 13 points behind Guardiola's side and 11th in the table.

Liverpool's manager has now claimed that nobody can reach City's level due to their dominance in the transfer market, especially since the arrival of Erling Haaland.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Klopp said: "Nobody can compete with City. You have the best team in the world and you put in the best striker on the market. No matter what it costs, you just do it.

"City won't like it, nobody will like it, but you know the answer. What does Liverpool do? We cannot act like them. It's not possible, not possible. It's just clear: there are three clubs in world football who can do what they want financially. It's legal, everything is fine, but they can do whatever they want. Competing with them? It's not possible to deal with that.

"I heard the Newcastle [sporting director Dan Ashworth] say there's no ceiling for this club - he's absolutely right. There's no ceiling for Newcastle. Congratulations - some clubs have ceilings."
