Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd: 2022/23 Premier League top 4 predicted by BBC pundits

The 2022/23 Premier League season gets underway on Friday evening as Arsenal take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

The Gunners have improved massively over the summer, signing Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira in big money deals.

Mikel Arteta’s side will be hoping to finish in the top four and qualify for the Champions League for the first time since the 2016/17 season.

But will they manage to end their drought?

Twenty-two BBC Sport pundits have had a go at predicting the exactPremierLeague top four in the 2022/23 season.

Among those that have given their thoughts include Micah Richards, Martin Keown, Danny Murphy and Jermaine Jenas.

View their predictions below…

Of the 22 pundits, 13 think Manchester City will retain their title, including Richards, Keown and Jonathan Woodgate.

Woodgate commented: “City won it last year without a striker and now they have got Haaland, who is world class. It’s a no-brainer – they have improved, so they will win it again.”

The remaining nine think Liverpool will beat out their fierce rivals to win their second Premier League title.

That includes Nedhum Onuoha, who came through the youth system at City, making 116 appearances from 2004-2012.

Speaking of City’s acquisitions of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, Onuoha said: “Both players are going to be extremely good, but I think this year maybe comes too soon for them. The difference between City and Liverpool will still be marginal though.”

Twenty-one of the 22 pundits think the top two will comprise of City and Liverpool. The only pundit that thinks otherwise is Green, who has gone with the very bold prediction that United will finish second, above Liverpool.
