Liverpool legend explains why Marcus Rashford could find it tough to leave Manchester United

Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler believes Marcus Rashford would find it massively challenging to leave Manchester United because of his love for the club.

Rashford, who joined the club at the age of just seven, is, as reported by the Manchester Evening News last month, understood to be considering his future at the club after he was left out of the starting line-up for the 4-1 defeat to Manchester City. Although both Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani were unavailable, Ralf Rangnick preferred Bruno Fernandes up front in a false-nine role, leaving Rashford on the bench.

In what has been an underwhelming season for both United and Rashford, being left out of the starting line-up against City with no other senior recognisable striker available was a huge blow for the 24-year-old. His future has since been the subject of rife speculation, with reports linking him with the likes of Arsenal in recent weeks.

While no concrete decision has yet been made on Rashford's future, a report by ESPN recently claimed that United plan to open fresh contract talks with the attacker. But even though he is considering his future at the club, former Liverpool and England ace Fowler believes that Rashford will be in pain because of his lack of recent opportunities, but has suggested that he would find it tough to turn his back on a club he loves.
