Liverpool greatest XI: Jamie Carragher names his side

Liverpool booked their spot in the final four of the Champions League after avoiding a potential banana skin against Benfica.

Liverpool looked like they might click into cruise control and enjoy a comfortable evening after Ibrahima Konate scored with a towering header from a corner in the early exchanges.

However, Benfica weren’t about to go quietly into the night, bagging an equaliser at Anfield after a fortunate deflection at in the Liverpool backline.

Ultimately, the game proved to be a helter-skelter affair with Benfica forcing a 3-3 draw but, in the larger scheme of things, Liverpool would like to think they were comfortable.

In fact, Jamie Carragher even had some time to raise some eyebrows as he named his all-time Liverpool XI while on punditry for CBS.

It’s an almighty task, especially when you consider the rich history of the club in question, but Carragher crafted an XI that could be incredibly difficult to top.

In a nod to the supreme job Jurgen Klopp has done at the club, no less than three current stars forced their way into Carragher’s fantastic side.
