Liverpool FC manager Jurgen Klopp delivers brutal response after criticism from former Man City midfielder

Jurgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, has ridiculed former Reds and Manchester City midfielder Dietmar Hamann following criticism of his side. Klopp's side have endured a hugely underwhelming start to the season and on Sunday they face City at Anfield.

A fixture that in recent years has been a grudge match between the two best sides in the land, the latest instalment has the hosts floundering down in 10th spot in the Premier League whilst champions City are just a point behind early leaders Arsenal.

Klopp could be seen as feeling the pressure and on Tuesday, at a pre-match press conference ahead of his team's Champions League tie with Glasgow Rangers, he hit back at criticism from his compatriot.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Hamann suggested there were "little signs" of unrest at Liverpool. When quizzed directly on this, Klopp hit back sarcastically saying: "Oh great, he’s a fantastic source, well respected everywhere.

"That (being a former Liverpool player) doesn’t give you the right to say what you want especially when you have no idea.

"I actually think Didi Hamann doesn’t deserve that you use his phrase to ask me a question. Do me a favour and ask your own question. Try to ask a question without the word spark, that’s the challenge now."

A City win on Sunday would open up a 16-point gap between the two sides even at this early juncture in the season.
