Liverpool FC boss Jurgen Klopp reveals Manchester United wish as he dismisses previous matches

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed his Manchester United wish after dismissing the importance of previous meetings between the two teams.

United have had to do plenty of self-reflection this week following the Reds' 4-0 hammering at Brentford last weekend. The defeat ensured that Erik ten Hag lost his first two matches of his Premier League career and pressure is already starting to mount.

The Reds' opponents on Monday night have also endured an underwhelming start to the campaign. Draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace have been less than ideal for Liverpool who will have Darwin Nunez suspended for the trip to Old Trafford.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Klopp revealed that he had wished for United to have done better last weekend. "The last two results at Old Trafford, I knew already wouldn't help this time," the Liverpool Echo reports.

"It just helps a bit to be more motivated if that is possible. This is completely different in a different situation.

"United can change nothing or everything, so it is tricky preparation-wise, but it's early and we don't have a lot of info anyway. It's tough but it's fine - United away will never be easy.

"I would prefer to play them after they won 5-0, that's how it is. We drew twice, so is it better to play us?

"I don't know. We have to deal with all the situations.

"The whole world will watch it, let's see how these heavyweights deal with the situation."
