Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp calls out Gabby Agbonlahor for 'unbelievable' Man Utd rant
Jurgen Klopp has called out talkSPORT pundit Gabby Agbonlahor for his comments about Manchester United following their 4-0 loss to Brentford.
The former Aston Villa striker called United a ‘shambles’ and suggested new manager Erik ten Hag should ‘just pack up’ following their heavy loss to Brentford.
Agbonlahor probably didn’t expect the Liverpool manager to be listening – and certainly wouldn’t have been expecting to be called out in a press conference by Klopp.
But that’s exactly what happened on Friday morning ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Old Trafford to face United.
Klopp also remembered when his Liverpool side beat Agbonlahor’s Aston Villa 6-0 back in February 2016.
“For United, you all played your part, and it was not a nice week for United after the Brentford game,” Klopp said. “We forget in these moments how good Brentford is.
“It was that bad, I watched the first half and drove home, listened to talkSPORT and Gabby…[Agbonlahor] he lost against us 6-0 in my first year, I couldn’t remember him as a mentality monster on the pitch.
“What he said about United on that show, I was close to calling in. I was close to calling in and telling him, you forgot completely what it’s like to be a player. It was unbelievable!
“When ex-players go like this then you can imagine how everything else is going.”
