Live updates as S4C chair Rhodri Williams questioned in the Senedd over problems at broadcaster
A day after he appeared in front of MPs, the chair of S4C, Rhodri Williams will appear in front of Senedd members today. He was called to the committee in the wake of allegations about bullying and the culture at the Welsh language broadcaster.
Mr Williams appeared in front of the Welsh affairs committee on Wednesday, January 11. Just hours after his appearance MPs wrote to the culture secretary to tell her they had lost faith in his position and should be replaced.
The committee, chaired by Preseli Pembrokeshire MP Stephen Crabb, sent the letter to Ms Frazer after hearing from Mr Williams and the broadcaster's lead non executive director Chris Jones. It said: "There seems to be an absence of cultural leadership at board level and we are concerned at the approach Mr Williams and the board took in seeking advice and reaching assurance in relation to key decisions it made. In addition, the committee was not satisfied by the assurances from Mr Williams and Mr Jones that the different complaints made against specific individuals had been handled equitably and with proper consideration of the fair treatment of all those involved." You can catch up on the evidence from the Westminster session here.
Today he will appear before the Senedd's culture, communications, Welsh Language, sport, and international relations committee. The session resumes to hear evidence on S4C from 12.35pm.
Both Mr Williams and Chris Jones, lead non-executive member will again appear.
