Live updates as 20mph speed limit petition in Wales passes 250,000 signatures and Senedd next steps discussed
It is officially the biggest petition that has ever been submitted to the Senedd. More than 250,000 people have signed a petition calling for the 20mph speed limit in Wales to be rescinded.
On Tuesday, just 48 hours after it came in, both the First Minister Mark Drakeford and Counsel General Mick Antoniw had to respond to the petition. Both said the law would not be reassessed.
The First Minister used just one word in his response, when asked about the petition in plenary. While Mr Antoniw said time was needed for it to bed in. "We've just introduced changes – we need to allow them to bed in and I'm confident they will be workable and people will accept them," he said.
