Commuters are being warned to expect cancellations and delays ahead of rush hour in Greater Manchester. National Rail says emergency services are responding to an incident this morning (February 6).
The incident has taken place between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge. Northern and TransPennine Express services between the two stations are affected.
Passengers are being warned to expect disruption throughout rush hour, and until 10am at least. A National Rail spokesperson said: "Due to emergency services dealing with an incident between Manchester Victoria and Stalybridge there is disruption.
"Services may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption expected until 10:00."
According to the Inrix traffic monitoring website, services on the line are currently stationary. Emergency services are reportedly dealing with the incident at the scene.
Further details about the nature of the incident are yet to be confirmed. British Transport Police has been approached for information.
