LIVE Town centre street cordoned off and trams halted following 'police incident'
Metrolink services on the Oldham and Rochdale line have been suspended following a 'police incident'. It's thought the line closure is connected to a crime scene currently in place on Union Street in Oldham town centre.
Metrolink tweeted: "Due to a Police Incident there is currently no service between Westwood and Rochdale Town Centre on the Rochdale via Oldham Line. Ticket acceptance on bus services - 59, 81, 83, 181, 182, 184, 409, 415, 471 and rail services between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale."
When asked by a passenger on Twitter how long the closure might be in in place Metrolink replied: "I'm afraid we don't have a timescale for this, however updates will be posted as soon as we receive them."
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for more details.
