LIVE REACTION - Mason Greenwood leaves Manchester United

Manchester United have announced Mason Greenwood is leaving the club following a lengthy internal investigation into the player.

There was a decision expected on Greenwood's future before the Wolves match on the opening day of the Premier League season, but the club's decision was delayed and their investigation rumbled on into the start of the campaign.

United began their investigation, to conduct their own inquiries 'to determine the next steps', into Greenwood following an announcement from Greater Manchester Police on February 2 that he no longer faced criminal proceedings.

Charges were dropped against Greenwood for attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault in February. He has always denied the allegations.

He last played for United on January 22, 2022 against West Ham and a decision on his future was announced today.

However, I fully accept I made mistakes in my relationship, and I take my share of responsibility for the situations which led to the social media post.

"I am learning to understand my responsibilities to set a good example as a professional footballer, and I’m focused on the big responsibility of being a father, as well as a good partner.

"Today’s decision has been part of a collaborative process between Manchester United, my family and me. The best
