LIVE: Major incident declared as firefighters tackle blaze at pyrotechnics factory in South West England

A major incident has been declared as firefighters battle a blaze at a pyrotechnics factory in South West England.

A 600m evacuation zone has been put in place around the factory near Street in Somerset, and all residents within the exclusion zone have been moved to a local rest centre. At 11pm on Friday night, Devon and Somerset Fire Rescue service said: "We are still at the scene and monitoring the situation

"A major incident has been declared and an exclusion zone of 600m put in place. All residents within the exclusion zone are being moved to a local rest centre."

People in Ashcott, near Street, were initially warned to close doors and windows to keep smoke from their homes, report s Somerset Live. A spokesperson for the fire service had earlier said that the incident is confined to a shipping container and is "under control". However, it was later announced that a major incident had been declared and exclusion zone of 600m put in place.
