LIVE: Major Dovestone Reservoir incident after two people go into water with search underway - updates

Emergency services are responding to a major incident at Dovestone Reservoir with police, firefighters and paramedics in attendance.

A rescue operation is currently underway following reports of two people going into water on the afternoon of Sunday (October 20).

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed one person has been recovered from the water and is being treated by paramedics - however the second person has still not been located.

Attempts are being made to find the second person with all emergency services, including the Coastguard and Mountain Rescue, currently at the scene.

Visitors are being asked to stay away from the area, which is located on the edge of Oldham and the Peak District National Park, while searches are being carried out.

There is currently a huge emergency service presence at Dovestone Reservoir. Police, fire engines and ambulances are all at the scene.

GMP confirmed a major search operation is underway after two people entered the water just after 2.30pm on Sunday (October 20).

One person was recovered and quickly received medical treatment, however the second person still has not been found.
