LIVE: M62 crash leaves huge delays with eight MILES of traffic

Drivers are facing long delays on the M62 this afternoon following a collision.

Eight miles of traffic has built up along the westbound carriageway between J23 A640 New Hey Road (Huddersfield) to J22 A672 (Rishworth Moor).

Congestion on the motorway is stretching to Hartshead Moor, according to online traffic reporting system Inrix. All lanes have been reopened and the accident is on the hard shoulder.

The M62 congestion has also been followed by problems on the M60.

One lane is closed and there is queueing traffic for three miles due to vehicle fire and smoke blowing across the road on M60 anticlockwise at J19 A576 Middleton Road (Heaton Park Three Arrows Roundabout).

Congestion to J21 (Hollinwood). Travel time is around 25 minutes. Lane one (of three) is closed.

Congestion is easing, but drivers should expect delays of ten minutes, according to National Highways
