LIVE: Long delays and heavy traffic on stretches of M62 and M60 after crashes

There are long delays on stretches of the M62 and M60 this morning after multiple crashes.

Two lanes are currently shut on the eastbound carriageway of the M62 between junction 11 for Birchwood and junction 12 for the Eccles Interchange. Traffic is queuing for around five miles up to the incident, according to Highways England.

Drivers have been urged to allow for extra time or plan a different route. A tweet posted by Highways England said: "Lanes 3 and 4 (of 4) are closed on the #M62 eastbound between J11 #Warrington #Birchwood and J12 #M60 #M602 due to a collision.

"There are long delays adding at least 30 minute to average journeys. The queue of traffic spans over 5 miles on the approach."

One lane has also been closed off on the anticlockwise carriageway of the M60. Two cars have crashed near junction 16 for Pendlebury, according to traffic alert service Inrix.

A tweet posted by TfGM said: "M60 J16 and J15. One lane closed traveling anticlockwise due to a road traffic collision.

"Congestion backing up to M62 J19. Allow extra time for your journey."
