LIVE: Earthquake shakes UK from West Midlands to South Wales
The UK was shook by an earthquake just before midnight this morning (Saturday, February 25). While the quake was centred on South Wales, tremors were reportedly felt as far away as Dudely and Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.
Some people in Wales say they were pulled from side to side or were moved across rooms in the chairs they were sitting in. Welsh resident @betharthur27 said on Twitter that their "house shook" and they felt like they were "being pulled from side to side".
And @marnswesh tweeted: "I heard a low rumble, then the wall shook and the chair jumped forward, which takes something with me sitting in it! Blimey. Not pleasant."
Initial estimates suggest it measured a magnitude of between 3.8 and 4.2. However, volcanodiscovery.com said the Wales earthquake's epicentre was around three miles north west of Merthyr Tydfil, at a depth of around 2km - which is considered to be a 'very shallow'.
However it was felt as far away as Dudley and other parts of the West Midlands, including Wolverhampton. Katy Alexandra Jack tweeted: "Imagine, I just felt this all the way in Dudley, West Midlands"
And earthquake aftershock alerts were reportedly sent to phone as far afield as Newcastle.
