LIVE as fog forces two-hour Manchester Airport flight delays and football match called off

Manchester Airport is facing disruption with some flights delayed by more than two hours.

Flights are arriving and departing from the airport later than scheduled. The disruption is said to have been caused by weather conditions. Oldham Athletic have also been forced to postpone their National League clash with York.

According to the Manchester Airport website, several flights that were due to arrive this afternoon (December 26) had still not landed, in some cases more than two hours. Flights due to depart from the airport are also delayed by as much as two hours.

According to traffic monitoring service INRIX, arrivals are delayed by up to 50 minutes with departures being delayed by up to an hour. The online service says the disruption to 'all flights' is due to fog.

Manchester Airport has not issued an update on the situation through social media or on its website.

Manchester Airport said:

Like most airports across the country, we have experienced some delays as a result of fog. In most instances these delays have been short and have not caused disruption to our schedule.

Passengers due to travel should prepare as normal and aim to arrive at the airport in line with their airline’s advice - this is usually two hours ahead of a short haul flight and three hours ahead of a long haul flight.
