Lions to travel south due to Qld floods

The Brisbane Lions will fly to Melbourne early for their next pre-season game, with the AFL club's training base heavily affected by the floods in south-east Queensland.

Chris Fagan's team is scheduled to face the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium on Friday in a rematch of last year's epic semi-final at the Gabba.

With the Lions' training facility at Yeronga under water, they have made the decision to head to Victoria on Wednesday morning.

The Lions will train at the Holden Centre, Collingwood's headquarters, after they arrive before holding a captain's run on Thursday.

But doubt surrounds the immediate future of the Lions' all-conquering women's team.

Fresh off a record-breaking AFLW smashing of West Coast, the Lions are due to host North Melbourne on Sunday.

Their home ground in Maroochydore remains under water and it remains uncertain when or where the AFLW side will be able to train this week.

The crunch round-nine game could be played in Melbourne or at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast instead.
