Lionel Messi: PSG star set another assist record in 3-0 win vs Nantes

Paris Saint-Germain cruised to victory once again in Ligue 1 on Saturday evening.

Christophe Galtier’s side travelled to Nantes ahead of their Champions League opener against Juventus and ran out 3-0 winners.

Neymar, arguably the most in-form player in Europe so far in 2022/23, was rested and PSG still claimed the win with ease.

The Brazilian’s two partners-in-crime Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi wreaked havoc once again, the former scoring twice and the latter assisting both of the goals.

It was yet another flawless display from Messi in Ligue 1, who looks back to his very best after a shaky debut season in Paris.

The Argentine registered 119 touches of the ball, had nine successful dribbles (the most completed by any player during a match in Europe’s top five leagues this season) and created four chances during his latest masterclass.

Messi’s latest two assists also saw him set yet another incredible record in the creative department.

Per stats-based website SofaScore, the 35-year-old is the first player to register 100 assists since the start of the 2015/16 season.
