Linlithgow Cricket Club remains unbeaten in 2022 campaign while Livingston pick up two wins

Linlithgow continued their fine start to the 2022 campaign as the First and Second XIs recorded victories as both sides remain unbeaten.

It was an impressive weekend for Livingston also as they picked up two wins from three fixtures.

The First and Third XIs won their respective matches, while it was a narrow loss for the club’s Second XI.

Ahmed Ali (pictured above) was the star of the show for Livingston 1 as they picked up a 42-run victory over Watsonian 2 in Division One.

He helped steady the ship after Livi had fallen to 51-4 with a top score of 40 as the home side were dismissed for 158.

He then played a pivotal role with the ball, taking two early wickets to leave Watsonian on 9-2. A steady third wicket partnership was broken by Farooq Muhammad who ripped through the middle order as the visitors stumbled from 55-2 to 69-6 before ultimately falling well short as they were bowled for 116.

The club’s Second XI were narrowly beaten by two wickets away to LeithFAB 2 in Division Five.

Kamlesh Marshiya was the leading batter with a score of 41 but wickets fell at regular intervals and the away side tallied 134 all out. That was a figure they nearly defended, though, as some fine bowling - most notably from Amjad Shaikh (3-20) - kept Livi in the game.

A solid fourth wicket partnership turned the game in Leith’s favour and they eventually got over the line with a little help from slack Livi fielding.

The newly established Third XI are playing in Division Seven and claimed their first ever victory with a two wicket win over Drummond Trinity 5.

Andrew Frazer’s 4-16 was the standout performance with the ball as Livi dismissed the hosts for 127 before a quickfire 26 from Cammy McKenzie saw the visitors pick up the win following
