Linfield following in Erling Haaland's footsteps at Champions League training camp in Marbella

Linfield are following in the footsteps of Manchester City star Erling Haaland in Southern Spain this week as they prepare for next month's Champions League kick-off.

The Big Two giants are currently on a week-long warm weather training camp at the Marbella Football Centre which is regarded as one of the most exclusive sports facilities in Europe.

The Blues arrived in Spain on Wednesday, the same day Manchester United midfielder Donny Van de Beek and Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin were being put through their paces at the complex.

Haaland, who recently joined City from Borussia Dortmund for a cool £51m and Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard also recently availed of the high performance centre’s facilities as part of their pre-season training regime.

Linfield, who lifted the league title for a fourth successive year in April, flew to Marbella to prepare for next month’s Champions League clash with The New Saints of Wales.

David Healy’s men, who are in Spain from June 15 to 22, are using the main Marbella Football Centre which is said to provide "top-class facilities" for visiting clubs.

The Blues have been training in 27 degree heat and have access to a number of natural grass pitches, smaller training pitches, high performance gym facilities and a spa with swimming pool and criosauna.

The Marbella Football Centre website says its facilities “were created to meet the highest demands of professional football, adapting to all the needs of an elite team during pre-season.”

As well as fine-tuning their fitness ahead of their European campaign, it is understood Linfield will play a friendly match in Marbella, with a game pencilled in for Tuesday (June 21).
