Limerick hurler Pat Ryan appeals jail sentence
Three time All-Ireland winning Limerick hurler Pat Ryan has appealed a jail sentence after he was convicted this afternoon of committing perjury.
Mr Ryan, 27, was arrested and charged this morning arising out of a criminal investigation into gardaí allegedly squaring away road traffic offences for individuals in the Limerick Garda Division.
He pleaded guilty to one count of having committed perjury at Limerick District Court on 21 October 2020.
Judge Patricia Harney jailed Mr Ryan for two weeks.
Mr Ryan from Doon, Co Limerick, immediately lodged an appeal.
