"Like a new signing" – Journalist drops exciting Leeds verdict on star thriving under Marsch

Leeds star Rodrigo has been “like a new signing” for Jesse Marsch this season, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

The £100,000 per-week ace made the switch to the Premier League from Valencia back in 2020 and is finally starting to prove his worth following an explosive start to the campaign.

Since moving to the Premier League following Leeds’ promotion, Rodrigo has generally struggled to score goals on a consistent basis, registering just 13 in 57 games across his first two years in English football.

He has found the net against the likes of Manchester City, Tottenham and Manchester United, but has never quite performed well enough to warrant a regular starting place.

But Rodrigo has returned for the new season a completely different player, and after three games is already on course to beat his best return, having struck four times in 238 minutes of action.

After scoring against Wolves on the opening day, Rodrigo notched two at Southampton, before netting for a third game on the bounce against Chelsea.

With Rodrigo the top scorer in the Premier League, currently outscoring the likes of Erling Haaland, Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah, Taylor reckons he can continue scoring and push towards the 15-goal mark, providing he keeps playing up front.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Looking at Rodrigo, he looks like a new signing at the moment. When they signed him that was a statement, but under Marcelo Bielsa he played like a midfield role.

“I think if you played Rodrigo up front every game, I think he’d get you 15 Premier League goals.”

It’s always difficult to predict exactly how many goals an individual will score, especially when playing for a team who were expected to be in a relegation battle.

But with Leeds finding
