Lightning one game away from Stanley Cup Final with Game 5 win over Rangers
The Tampa Bay Lightning are one win away from a Stanley Cup Final berth after defeating the New York Rangers 3-1 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final on Thursday night. The Lightning now lead the series 3-2.
Mikhail Sergachev scored the game winner with 1:50 remaining in the third for the Lightning in what was a tightly contested defensive affair. The defenceman scored the first two Lightning goals on the night, snapping a 23-game goalless drought.
Sergachev scored his first of the night late in the second to even the score heading to the third period. Brandon Hagel scored in the empty net to give Tampa Bay a two-goal lead.
Andrei Vasilevskiy was excellent in the victory, making 24 saves.
Ryan Lindgren opened the scoring to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead in the second period after a scoreless opening frame.
