Life in the "most desirable" footballer and billionaire village with supercars bumper-to-bumper

It is, without any shadow of a doubt, the north's glitziest village. Supercars worth more than most people's houses sit bumper to bumper along the village's main street, residents casually walk along in their gym attire dripping in haute couture accessories, while charity shops here are stuffed with designer cast-offs like DKNY jeans and Jimmy Choo heels.

This is Alderley Edge, the "Knightsbridge of the north". A village at the apex of Cheshire's famous "Golden Triangle" of wealth that has long been the choice of home for Premier League footballers, millionaires and a smattering of billionaires too.

David and Victoria Beckham famously lived here during his time at Manchester United as did Cristiano Ronaldo, while Man City's Erling Haaland has just bought a house here to settle into family life now he's signed up for another 9 year stretch with the Blues.

Beckham may no longer be resident in Alderley, but he remains so enamoured with the place that he always pops back to his favourite chippy, Fosters, when he's back in the area - most recently just a month ago.

Living on the Edge is for the very select few though. The average price for a house here is three times the national average according to Rightmove - at a jaw-dropping £823,000, while the average detached house price is £1.3 million. Last year prices rose again by 11 per cent to show you the kind of demand there is for properties in this exclusive enclave.

Estate agents in the village say that demand is now highest in the "mid-market" range between £800,000 and £1million, with people desperate to secure that oh-so aspirational Alderley Edge address.
