'Life hack' for cleaning forgotten part of your kitchen – and it's really simple

A 'life hack' for cleaning a part of your kitchen which you've probably overlooked has left TikTok users amazed.

Often, there's a spot in your kitchen brimming with grime which you probably haven't even considered. Now one man came to the rescue and shared his advice on finding the dirty area.

Hidden above many stovetops is the extractor hood filter – a hotbed for grease accumulation. Its main function is to capture the smoke or steam from cooking food. However, over time, it can become increasingly clogged with dirt, making it less effective.

As TikTok's AndreLifeHack shows in his video, you can simply lower the hood and gently pour boiling water over it in the sink. The grime begins to dissolve almost immediately - a method far more efficient than scrubbing with a brush and cleaning products.

After rinsing, let it dry and pop it back into place. Job done! The video was posted last week and has already racked up an astonishing 10.4million views.

While some of Andre's followers suggested that placing the hood in the dishwasher works just as well, those without dishwashers were especially thankful for the tip.

"Damn, gonna give this a try tomorrow," one user commented. Another exclaimed: "Wow I am trying this." A third commented: "I rent and mine looks like it hasn't been cleaned in 20 years - can I buy a new one or should I try this?"
