Lidl advertises on billboard in genius location after hilarious Liam Gallagher jacket comparison

Lidl has begun advertising on a billboard in a genius location in Manchester city centre beside a new Liam Gallagher mural.

The supermarket giant has commissioned an advert for their 24p 'jacket' potatoes on Oldham Road in Manchester, conveniently beneath the painted mural of Gallagher wearing a new £400 Berghaus jacket.

It comes just days after fans hilariously mocked the Manchester musician upon the release his new collaboration photos with the major fashion brand.

Looking trendy in the coat, people were quick to spot the red, blue and yellow number looked a little familiar. Berghaus used the colours made famous by the budget supermarket chain for their big collab - and it didn't go unnoticed.

He was mocked by fans for donning the £400 item, dubbed the 'Lidl jacket'. A painted mural replicating the new collaboration was recently completed off Oldham Street in Ancoats.

An image taken by photographer @Manc_wanderer shows the 'Lidl Jacket' billboard conveniently placed beneath the recently unveiled mural.

At the time of the collaboration pictures, one fan joked: "Collaboration with Lidl?" as another quipped "Lidl by lidl".

Another commented: "If Lidl would open a store on top of Mont Blanc, this is what I would pull up with" as another posted: "Proper Lidl workers jacket that."

Liam and the supermarket already have a bond, with Lidl previously unveiling a blue plaque in his honour at one of its Manchester stores after the star 'almost played' there after problems at the nearby Co-op Live arena.
