Lewis Hamilton will not like new FIA rule with Max Verstappen given more freedom

Lewis Hamilton will be less than impressed with a new FIA ruling that will ultimately fit the driving style of title rival Max Verstappen, and give the Dutchman much more freedom.

The FIA have announced for the 2022 campaign that drivers will now receive a 10-place grid penalty after five reprimands, which has gone up from the previous ruling of three.

As a result, drivers were usually only allowed three warnings out on the track before being slapped with a grid penalty, however the changes gives drivers much more freedom in 2022.

The change could well have come after not one driver received over two reprimands across the 22-race campaign in 2021.

And whilst the law change is of course the same for all Formula 1 drivers, one man who may be less than impressed is seven-time world champion Hamilton.

JUST IN: Lewis Hamilton leaving F1 would be 'very damaging'

As a result the Englishman heads into 2022 on the back of losing his world title (in controversial circumstances) to Max Verstappen last term.

And to win it back and secure a record eighth championship, Hamilton will no doubt have to battle with his Dutch rival once more.

However, the reprimand change could well benefit Verstappen more than the seven-time world champ, as the 24-year-old is known for his aggressive style of racing.

Therefore, if the Dutchman now has five chances to push the rules with his aggression rather than three, it will no doubt give him much more freedom out on the track.
