Lewis Hamilton's interview after controversial Abu Dhabi 2021 Grand Prix

After the controversial conclusion to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix last year, Lewis Hamilton kept his cool despite a lot of Formula 1 fans feeling he was robbed of an eighth Drivers’ Championship on the very last lap of the season.

Hamilton finished second in 2021 having recorded eight wins and five pole positions. Despite racking up a very impressive 387.5 points in the season, the Mercedes man finished behind Dutchman Max Verstappen by a measly eight points.

The title was decided during the last race of the season and when asked if he was proud of what he has done throughout the campaign, following a heated title race between him and Verstappen, the Brit was quick to praise his rival and team.

“Firstly, congratulations to Max and to his team. I think we did an amazing job this year. Everyone back in the factory and here [pit dugout] worked so hard this year and it was difficult this season.

He was asked about their form and his hopes of winning the title once again the following year and he kept his composure yet again, answering: “Of course I’ve been feeling good and grateful in the car this past couple of months. Particularly in the end.
