Lewis Hamilton's amazing overtake in karting like British GP heroics

Lewis Hamilton is synonymous with motorsport, becoming the most successful driver in the history of Formula One in almost every way possible.

But it’s a long journey to the top of the motorsport world, with every aspiring Formula One driver starting out in karting before moving into the junior competitions.

Footage has emerged of Lewis Hamilton as a young child in go karting, it was clear then the ability he had and the potential he could fill if he kept at the sport.

The seven-time world champion has been entertaining us on track for way over a decade now, with his father a key aspect to our enjoyment of motorsport.

Anthony Hamilton took out a second mortgage, holding down up to four jobs at a time and emptied his life savings along with Lewis’ step mum’s savings to help him go for his dreams from as young as eight years old.

One year, the cost to get Hamilton into the karting scene as a young child was a staggering £20,000. It’s no surprise to see him with all his success giving back to young children with the same dreams he has from under privileged backgrounds.

He’s gone on to break most records in the book and has been knighted, Sir Lewis Hamilton has certainly repaid his dad’s faith in him a million times over!

When you see how good he was even then, it’s no shock to see why his dad had all that faith in his son, he was destined for greatness as early as then.

He was on the back of the race leader for a few laps of the circuit, with third place closing up as Hamilton attempted a pass in the clip that has resurfaced from his karting days. Even then he donned the famous yellow helmet!

Hamilton then performed a double overtake to take the lead which we saw a rerun of at the British Grand Prix when he overtook Charles
