Lewis Hamilton qualifying 16th for Saudi GP leads to viral YouTuber clip re-emerging

For years Lewis Hamilton has been at the top of the Formula One game, but his latest performance is far from his finest, qualifying down in 16th place in Saudi Arabia.

He has already admitted he’s ready to go home after he was pictured in Jeddah looking disappointed and fed up. When on the track, he was unrecognisable to the usual form we are accustomed to.

The Saudi Arabian GP could have been abandoned, and it is believed that Hamilton was the figurehead amongst fellow drivers to be leading with this concern.

Hamilton’s human rights work conflicts with the missile strike on a nearby oil plant.

However, qualifying went ahead as planned, and his poor performance shocked drivers and fans who had tuned in, and he’s reported that he was unhappy with his vehicle and how it was operating. He even expressed his shock that he did not crash.

“I struggled with the car, it was snappy, I was losing the back end. It’s a wonder I wasn’t one of the drivers in the wall.

“It was very unstable. I don’t know how it will be tomorrow, but it is a long, long way back. I don’t anticipate moving very far forwards.”

These further issues continue to add to Mercedes’ seemingly ever-growing problems. Hamilton claimed his car was “undriveable” and blamed his Jeddah Q1 exit on incorrect car setup.

Unfortunately for Hamilton, F1’s parc ferme rules means that he is unable to alter his car setup – unless he opts to start from the pitlane.

The savvy minds of the watchers realised a resemblance of this moment which took us back to a clip of YouTuber NepentheZ being shocked he was placed 16th whilst playing F1 2020.

The iconic clip has amassed nearly 70k views on his channel and has begun to do the rounds again following Hamilton’s recent disappointment.
