Lewis Hamilton opens up on mental and emotional struggles he’s suffered for a long time

Lewis Hamilton admits some days he’s found it ‘hard to stay positive’ after opening up about his mental and emotional struggles.

The seven-time F1 world champion has endured a busy few months on track and is currently going through a tricky patch having finished 10th in his latest outing at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

Hamilton has now sent a powerful message to his millions of fans letting them know they are not alone if they are also struggling.

‘It has been such a tough year already with everything happening around us,’ the 37-year-old said on Instagram. ‘Hard some days to stay positive.

‘I’ve struggled mentally and emotionally for a long time, to keep going is a constant effort but we have to keep fighting. We have so much to do and to achieve.

‘I’m writing to tell you it’s okay to feel the way you do, just know you are not alone and that we are going to get through this.

‘A friend reminded me today, you are so powerful and you can do anything you put your mind to. We can do anything we put our mind to.

‘Let’s remember to live in gratitude for another day to rise. Sending you love and light.’

Hamilton has had to bounce back from last season’s disappointment which saw Max Verstappen controversially overtake him in the final lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix to deny him a record eighth world title.
