Leona Maguire takes second at CME Group Tour Championship
Leona Maguire fell short in her bid to claim a record $2m purse at the CME Group Tour Championship in Florida as she finished runner-up to Lydia Ko.
FULL LEADERBOARD
Maguire went into the final round as the joint-leader with Ko after shooting a sensational nine-under 63 on Saturday.
She couldn't scale those heights on Sunday, carding a level-par 72 to sign off on 15-under-par overall as Ko snuck it by two shots.
It still represents a terrific showing from Maguire who collects $687,000 for the second-placed finish.
Meanwhile Ko pockets the largest pay-day in the history of women's golf - a cheque for $2m that's $200,000 more than what the 2022 US Women's Open champion pocketed and $1.25m more than what the season's first major, the Chevron Championship, paid its winner.
