Leinster and Munster hurling finals staggered for 2024 - calendar confirmed for provincial hurling championships

The details of the 2024 senior hurling provincial championships have been confirmed, with the Leinster and Munster finals reverting to separate days.

The two deciders were played on the same Sunday this year but next year the Leinster final will take place on the evening of Saturday, 8 June and the Munster showpiece on the afternoon Sunday, 9 June. That order is set to be reversed in 2025.

Leinster champions Kilkenny begin their campaign at home to Antrim on the weekend of 20/21 April. Newly promoted Carlow travel to 2023 runners-up Galway while Wexford host Dublin, hoping to reverse the defeat that cost them a chance of progression last season.

Galway and Kilkenny again face each other in round two (27-28 April) while the last round (25 May) sees the potentially decisive clashes of Antrim-Carlow, Kilkenny-Wexford and Galway-Dublin.

The Munster fixtures had already been provisionally announced and are not expected to change after the recent GAA Special Congress opted to retain the preliminary quarter-finals involving the Joe McDonagh Cup finalists.

There's a blockbuster opener as Clare host five-in-a-row provincial winners Limerick. The Treaty had a point to spare over their rivals in the final last season, having been beaten by the same margin in the round-robin phase.

Waterford return to Walsh Park after the initial phase of redevelopment work was completed and host Cork on the first weekend. Tipperary are first in action with a trip to Limerick in round two.

The Joe McDonagh Cup fixtures have not yet been confirmed while the Allianz Hurling League begins on the weekend of 3/4 February.
