Leinster 29-7 Ospreys: Welsh side fall to comprehensive defeat in Dublin

The Ospreys couldn't repeat last year's remarkable victory in Dublin as they fell to defeat against a comfortable, if slightly wasteful Leinster side.

The Irish side had to wait until the final few minutes before sealing a bonus point - with the Ospreys defending well in the circumstances.

However, tries from Jordan Larmour, Cian Healy, James Lowe and Scott Penny eventually proved the difference - with Rhys Webb able to get on the scoresheet for the Welsh side

Perhaps the best sight from a Welsh perspective was the return of Dan Lydiate after a year out with a serious knee injury.

Of course, the last time the Ospreys visited Dublin, they came away with a remarkable comeback victory at the RDS to secure a Champions Cup place.

If a repeat was contingent on Leinster building a solid early lead, then the first-half largely went to script.

The home side got on top early on, with Ross Byrne slotting a penalty to take the lead after just two minutes.

The Ospreys defended valiantly under pressure and it took until just after the end of the first quarter for the Irish province to extend their lead.

After 11 quickfire phases, Byrne stabbed a kick behind the Ospreys defence and Irish international Larmour was the first to the loose ball to score.

Leinster thought they had scored again almost immediately, only for Luke McGrath's try to be chalked off for a knock-on in the build-up.

However, it wouldn't take long for that second try to come.

Sustained pressure saw Morgan Morris sent to the sin-bin. Barely a minute later, the other Irish international released back to Leinster, prop Healy, was forcing his way over to score.
