Leicester City man opens up on summer ‘plan’ after international call-up

Leicester City loanee Daniel Iversen has spoken of his ‘plan’ to return to Leicester City once his loan at Preston North End expires at the end of the season.

The goalkeeper has impressed with the Championship club so far this season, so much so that he has earned his maiden call up to the Danish national squad in the current international break. The 24-year-old is due to join up with the squad, including City captain Kasper Schmeichel, for the friendlies against the Netherlands and Serbia.

Preston boss Ryan Lowe has said that talks are planned with City over Iversen extending his stay at Deepdale beyond the current season. But the goalkeeper does have eyes on playing in the Premier League.

"It has always been my dream to try all the divisions, and now I just miss the Premier League. But I am really happy to be in Preston right now and to play in the Championship,” he said (via TribalFootball ).

"It's just about getting more matches, playing at my current level and maybe adding extra. Then we have to see what comes this summer and what is going to happen. You do not know that.

"The plan is that I will return because my contract with Preston expires. It's not really something I've thought about yet. There are eight or nine more matches that I just have to concentrate on first, and then we have to see what happens."

In the more short-term, Iversen plans on impressing Denmark manager Kasper Hjulmand in training, although he is not expecting to feature in any of the games. “I don’t think so, but you never know in football, anything can happen,” he told Preston’s official website.
