Leicester City look to secure ‘£60million signing’ as talks progress positively

Leicester City are holding positive talks with ‘£60million signing’ James Justin over an improved contract at the club, per a report.

Justin was one of the breakout stars in the Premier League during his second season in 2020/21. The full-back was being earmarked for an England call-up.

However, an ACL rupture halted his progress, and he has been on the sidelines for almost a year.

The 23-year-old returned in January, after recovering from that injury. He played a 37-minute cameo against Spurs, before registering a full 90 minutes against Brighton the following game.

Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers likened Justin’s return to a £60million signing for the club recently.

Clearly, the youngster is a vital element of Rodgers’ side. As such, he will be delighted at the positive contract talks with the player, per Leicestershire Live.

That report states Leicester have been in contract discussions with Justin since December.

Furthermore, those talks are apparently progressing well.

Justin’s current deal has him staying at the club until 2024. Tying him down for even longer than that will be positive for both parties.

Justin will likely be happy at extending his stay with the club who have shown such faith in him. He will also want to repay their confidence by getting back into the form he was in prior to his injury.

Leicester were one of a few teams interested in taking Norwich City youngster Todd Cantwell in. However, they failed that pursuit, as the winger was loaned out to Bournemouth.

The Foxes signed James Maddison from Norwich, and turned him into a Prem star. They could have potentially done the same to Cantwell.

As such, the move to the Championship seems a completely backwards step in the 23-year-old’s career.
