Leicester City have two players who can lead them to Europa Conference League glory

Leicester City are more than capable of European glory when they have the likes of Wesley Fofana and Youri Tielemans in their squad, winger Marc Albrighton believes.

City are just five matches away from becoming the inaugural Europa Conference League winners, starting with the first leg of their quarter-final against PSV Eindhoven next week. They are one of the favourites to lift the trophy in Albania at the end of May, and Albrighton reckons it’s with good reason given the quality they have in the squad.

He picked out two players for special mention: returning centre-back Fofana, who made a dream comeback from a seven-month injury lay-off with the vital goal in the last round at Rennes, and influential midfielder Tielemans, who struck the winner when City reached a major final last year.

“I’m more than confident,” Albrighton told talkSPORT when asked about City’s chances of winning the Conference League. “We’ve got players coming back. Fofana is massive for us. He’s such a talented player. He’s got all the attributes for a centre-half and he’s great to have back.

“And players like Youri Tielemans. For me, he’s one of the best midfielders, if not the best, that I’ve played with. He’s so talented. And to have around, his professionalism rubs off on other players as well. The young boys see him working and the things he’s doing before and after training. That rubs off on them. People don’t appreciate that as much as they should.

“I’m more than confident we can go all the way. We’ve got a squad capable of definitely winning it, with the European experience we have in it.”
