Leeds United: 'Outlook isn't good' for 108-game Elland Road star amid major blow

Leeds United ace Tyler Roberts’ Elland Road career could be over after suffering a season-ending injury during head coach Jesse Marsch’s first match at the helm, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Marsch was appointed as Marcelo Bielsa’s successor just 24 hours after the Argentinian’s sacking and there are doubts as to whether Roberts will feature in the new boss’ long-term plans.

Roberts came on as a late substitute as Marsch’s Leeds reign got underway with a 1-0 defeat at Leicester City earlier this month, but it proved to be an afternoon where Roberts’ season reached its climax.

The Whites confirmed the attacker was forced to undergo surgery after sustaining a ruptured hamstring tendon at the King Power Stadium and would be on the sidelines for the next three months.

Former Leeds right-back Danny Mills has suggested Roberts will find it difficult to break back into the side following his recovery as Marsch will look to welcome new signings to Elland Road during the summer transfer window, potentially making the 19-cap Wales international surplus to requirements.

Roberts’ contract with the Yorkshire giants, understood to be worth £22,000-per-week, is due to expire in just shy of two-and-a-half years.

The transfer insider reckons Marsch will look to bolster his side in the summer window and Roberts could be among the stars
