Leeds ‘turn down’ Barca bid for Raphinha, player ‘keen’ on move

Leeds United have ‘turned down’ a €35m bid from Barcelona for Raphinha, according to reports.

The Brazilian was in incredible form last campaign for the Yorkshire club, bagging six goals and creating nine assists for his teammates in his debut Premier League season.

And Raphinha has been just as good this term, contributing nine goals and three assists with Leeds now seven points above the relegation zone after back-to-back wins.

A report on Monday revealed that the 25-year-old had rejected a renewal offer from Leeds which would have nearly doubled his wages at Elland Road.

With a summer transfer a possibility, Liverpool, Barcelona, Chelsea, amongst others, are all reportedly interested in signing the Brazil international.

According to Sport (via Sport Witness), Barca have made an approach for the Leeds winger, who is keen to play under ‘brave coach’ Xavi at the Nou Camp.

It is claimed that the Whites have not accepted the €35m bid and are looking for the Catalan club to pay Raphinha’s €75m release clause.

Barca have ‘not lost optimism’ in their pursuit of the winger and remain hopeful of signing him ‘for an accessible price’ when they ‘reactivate the contacts with Leeds’.
