Leeds: 'Pretty significant' Jesse Marsch claim now emerges

Jesse Marsch’s comments following Leeds‘ victory over Norwich on Sunday were “pretty significant” this early into his Elland Road career, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Leeds manager said that it was one of the most special moments of his career after watching his side collect a priceless three points in their battle against survival.

Leeds came into the game sitting just two points above the bottom-three and knew that this was a key moment in their campaign.

With matches to come against Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea, this was a must-win game for Marsch’s side, who left it late but got the win they badly needed.

Rodrigo’s early goal looked to be enough for the Yorkshire giants, who held onto that lead for more than 70 minutes.

Kenny McLean’s stoppage-time goal appeared to have snatched Norwich a point when he swept home but Leeds fans were sent into raptures less than three minutes later when Raphinha set up 19-year-old Joe Gelhardt for his first ever Elland Road goal.

Moments after the win, Marsch said: “On my death bed I’ll reflect on this day. It was certainly a special moment in my career and for all of us.

“I am just pleased for the entire club and the city. I am new here and I am trying to bring my vision and we’ll get there; I know we will. The points are big, but the moment is even bigger.”

Marsch’s comments came just three games into his Whites career, and Jones has described them as “significant”.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “For Jesse Marsch, he said that it’s a moment that will stick with him for the rest of his life. That’s pretty significant, a couple of games into his reign.”
