Leeds latest news: Stuart Dallas injury was the last thing that Marcelo Bielsa needed

Journalist Pete O’Rourke reckons that Stuart Dallas getting injured was the last thing that Marcelo Bielsa needs at Leeds right now.

Dallas has started every Premier League game this season but is set for a spell on the sidelines after hobbling out of the defeat at Everton last weekend.

Almost the entire Leeds squad have been injured at some point this season, but up to the trip to Goodison Park, Dallas had managed to avoid suffering one. In fact, in the last two-and-a-half seasons, the Northern Ireland international has missed just one league game and none since Leeds were promoted back to the Premier League.

However, just nine minutes into the game against Frank Lampard’s side, Dallas was forced off following a challenge with Toffees attacker Alex Iwobi and had to be replaced by teenager Leo Hjelde.

No timescale has been placed on Dallas’ return, although Bielsa should provide an update on Friday when he speaks to the press ahead of the game against Manchester United this weekend.

But Injury specialist Ben Dinnery thinks that his record of being available for games would suggest that it must have been a serious injury for him to come off and his return might not be swift.

If Dallas is out for a sustained period of time, it will leave Leeds short at left-back, with Junior Firpo already on a lengthy absentee list.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Leeds have been badly hit with injuries and they’ll be hoping that Dallas’ injury is not too serious, because there’s not a lot of cover, with Firpo also sidelined.

“So, it’s a problem Marcelo Bielsa could do without.”
