Leeds latest news: Doubts raised over Kalvin Phillips' future

Leeds United are certain to see bids fly in for star midfielder Kalvin Phillips during the summer transfer window, according to journalist Paul Brown.

The Whites managed to hold onto the 19-cap England international despite interest over the last week of January, but that is unlikely to deter suitors at the end of the season.

The Sun revealed West Ham United tabled a £50million bid as they looked to attract Phillips to the London Stadium just a matter of days ahead of the January transfer deadline.

The report suggests Hammers boss David Moyes is a huge admirer of the central midfielder, but Leeds were unwilling to sell their academy product.

Despite failing in their attempts to prise Phillips away from Elland Road, it is understood that West Ham are likely to return with another proposal when the transfer window reopens at the start of July.

The east Londoners are not the 26-year-old’s only admirers as it emerged, via the Daily Star, that Liverpool and Manchester United are preparing to battle it out for his signature.

The report claims the Red Devils, Leeds’ arch-rivals, are desperate to welcome a defensive midfielder to the club at the end of the season but, were he to choose between the two sides, Phillips would opt to head to Anfield.

Meanwhile, it appears Phillips is nearing a return to action after being pictured at Thorp Arch earlier this month. However, his expected return date remains the first weekend of March.

Brown believes Phillips is going to be in-demand when the transfer window reopens and Leeds may have to contend with a host of bids coming their way.
