Leeds: 19-cap star faces 'difficult' Elland Road future

Leeds forward Tyler Roberts is going to find it “difficult” to save his career at Elland Road after suffering a serious injury, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Roberts has spent the last four years at Leeds but has struggled to cement his place as an ever-present in the team.

The 23-year-old has featured in 23 Premier League games this term, yet he has only started seven times, highlighting how he has largely been deployed as an impact substitute.

His end product has also been questionable as he has just one goal and one assist to his name in the top-flight in 2021/22.

With Jesse Marsch replacing Marcelo Bielsa recently, Roberts may have hoped to get his season back on track under the new manager, but his hopes of doing that were crushed against Leicester at the start of the month.

In Marsch’s first game at the helm, Roberts ruptured his hamstring tendon, and he has been ruled out for three months, meaning that his season is over.

Jones has admitted that Roberts’ injury setback has come at the worst possible moment as he will not get to prove himself to Marsch between now and the end of the season.

Reflecting on Roberts’ misfortune, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s going to be difficult for him, and it’s certainly not a good time to pick up an injury like that because you just want that game time to even produce a moment that sticks with people in their mind.”

The attacker still has over two years left on his contract at the Premier League club, and he only signed a new deal last June. This indicates that he may still have a future at Leeds.
