Lavia monitored and Amrabat linked - Manchester United considering second midfield signing after Mason Mount

Manchester United are keeping their options open over a second midfield signing this summer, with Mason Mount on the verge of becoming the first new arrival of the window.

Mount is set to complete an initial £55million switch from Chelsea having agreed a five-year contract and passed his medical at Carrington on Monday. The fee could rise to £60million, but the add-ons are heavily dependant on team success.

The arrival of the 24-year-old is set to see Fred depart and Fulham are interested in signing the 30-year Brazilian, who has one year left on his contract.

With a deal for Mount now complete, United are turning their attention to signing a goalkeeper and a striker, but they are also monitoring midfielders with the future of Scott McTominay uncertain.

They have been linked with a move for Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat, with the 26-year-old
