Latest League One promotion odds as Sheffield Wednesday learn 2022/23 schedule

There is a little over five weeks to go until Sheffield Wednesday begin their 2022/23 League One season. All eyes will be on the Owls as Darren Moore's side look to go one better after falling short in the play-offs in their first year back in the third tier of English football.

Spirits are high at Hillsborough after a productive start to the club's summer transfer business. Moore has revamped his first team squad, drafting in Ben Heneghan, David Stockdale, Will Vaulks, Michael Smith and Michael Ihiekwe on free transfers.

Moore is targeting further additions before the Owls kick off their campaign at home to Portsmouth on July 30. Defence and attack have been identified as areas the Wednesday chief wants to strengthen over the coming weeks.

Sheffield Wednesday strengthen their attacking options with the signing of Michael Smith

Given how well the Owls have performed this calendar year, it is no surprise the bookies have tipped Moore's side to be in the promotion shake-up next season. Are Wednesday the outright favourites to go up? Not quite.

Ipswich are the 7/4 favourites for promotion and are followed by the Owls (9/4) and Wayne Rooney’s Derby County (11/4) with Betfair following confirmation of the EFL fixtures were confirmed today. The Tractor Boys have signed four new faces, including former Wednesday loanee Tyreece John-Jules, as they look to return to the Championship at the fourth attempt.
