Larne confirm signing of former Northern Ireland U21 midfielder Shea Gordon

Larne boss Tiernan Lynch has sealed his third signing of the summer window with the capture of former Motherwell and Partick Thistle midfielder Shea Gordon.

The 24-year-old, who represented Northern Ireland at U21 level, joins the Inver Park club after parting company with Scottish Championship club Partick.

Gordon joins Ballymena United midfielder Leroy Millar and versatile Cliftonville defender Aaron Donnelly as new arrivals ahead of next season.

He said: “I’m delighted to have this move confirmed and I just can’t wait to get started.

“I’ve been talking to Tiernan for a few weeks now and was really impressed with the facilities Larne has both for training and match days – it’s top class.

“Being able to stay in a full-time environment was also a big pull for me and the bonus of European football is something I’m really looking forward to.”

After coming through the underage system at hometown club Dungannon Swifts, Gordon began life as a professional with Sheffield United in 2016.

A year later he joined up with Motherwell’s U20s and also enjoyed a productive loan spell with Partick before making the deal permanent in 2019.

The talented midfielder would go on to score 11 goals in 62 games for Thistle and helped the club bounce back to the Championship at the first time of asking in 2021.

Larne owner Kenny Bruce tweeted: “Welcome to the club Shea. You are joining a great group.”
